It’s really really upsetting that I’m barely seeing any posts about Aleppo…I mean I don’t blame anyone who doesn’t know (though you really fucking should) but I was taking comfort somewhat in the solidarity of people at least being AWARE of how horrible the world was and the atrocities we were committing…people who were at least trying to get the news out…
I’m so scared for the future and I’m so scared for Syria (and the world, by extension)
We turned down refugees, we sent them back home to this. We voted for Donald Trump, a man who supports Putin and his influence in these horrible crimes against humanity. We supported a government that air-bombed these people, and now we aren’t even talking about this straight-up genocide that we were complacent in.
We said “never again” with the Holocaust, we said “never again” with Srebrenica, we say “never again” and “we must learn from the past” and we never DO. We never do! How many ‘never agains’ will it take before we cannibalize ourselves or actually take action?! How many innocent people have to die before we decide that they’re worth our time? How can we even help when our governments are in control and so corrupt they choose against what we as a people want, all for the sake of war and racism and money???
We’re doomed. We allowed others to suffer for our own ignorance and faults, and it will be our undoing. We are the villains. We LET this happen.
Please pray for the innocents who are in danger, and for those who’ve already passed. And please, act. Do something, ANYTHING you can. Please talk about this. Please don’t let this die.
